K athrine Allen-Coleman was born in Victoria B.C. Canada. Her studies began with an Associate of Arts diploma from Camosun College. Continuing her education she studied at the Victoria College of Art, Metchosin International Summer School for the Arts, and the University of Victoria. Her studies took her to the south of France where she met fellow artist R. Scott Coleman. Kathrine and Scott were married in Scott's hometown of Jackson, Georgia in 1998.

Kathrine has been working on her dress painting series off and on since the late 90's. The common thread running through all these works has been the simple task of telling a story. Currently, they are focusing on little snippets of memory brought to light by the childhood nickname. Not the mean taunts one could hear on the school yard, but the funny names often tossed about in families. Chatterbox, Miss Priss, Plain Jane.

Beginning with the name, Kathrine weaves a story using collage, acrylic paint, embroidery, and of course a vintage dress. The delight is seeing people recognize themselves in the work, and knowing we often come from a very similar place.

Kathrine and her husband Scott work out of their studio in Jackson, Georgia, with three cats and a dog cheering them on! She has won numerous awards and is represented in hundreds of private collections in Canada and the US.
