K
athrine Allen-Coleman was born in Victoria B.C. Canada. Her studies began with an Associate of Arts diploma from Camosun College. Continuing her education she studied at the Victoria College of Art, Metchosin International Summer School for the Arts, and the University of Victoria.
Her studies took her to the south of France where she met fellow artist R. Scott Coleman. Kathrine and Scott were married in Scott's hometown of Jackson, Georgia in 1998.
Kathrine's work is in a constant state of change. In the 10 years she has been in Georgia she has moved from linoleum block prints to acrylic still life on canvas. With plenty of little valentines, and the occasional landscape for good measure. But now she has made the move back to where she started so to speak. The dress painting series began in the early 1990's when she was still living in Victoria. They began simply enough as the next step after using cheesecloth on canvas looking for texture. The dress became a beginning point in telling a story. At first the paintings were big and full of issues that only a 20 something could produce. They have mellowed, and become much more complex. Kathrine and her husband Scott work out of their studio in Jackson, Georgia, with three cats and a dog cheering them on! She has won numerous awards and is represented in hundreds of private collections in Canada and the US. Kathrine Allen-Coleman P.O.
